What You Burn Matters

What You Burn Matters

Emilyn Rose

What you burn in your home matters just as much as the fragrance it brings. We're often drawn to familiar scents, overlooking what's inside the candle itself. From its ingredients to the way it burns, these details quietly shape the atmosphere of your space.

A candle is more than fragrance—it's an experience, adding warmth, comfort, and ambiance to your home.

The Key in Ingredients

Not all candles are made the same way or utilize the same ingredients. Every candle brand utilizes different waxes, wicks, and fragrances, which affect the way a candle burns, smells, and enhances your space. However, most candles you find in stores are primarily made from the same ingredients: paraffin wax, phthalate fragrance oils, and cotton or paper wicks.

Type of Candle Wax

Paraffin wax is one of the most commonly used candle waxes due to its strong scent throw and affordability. However, when burned, paraffin candles may produce more visible soot than many plant-based alternatives. Because paraffin is derived from petroleum, some consumers choose to seek out alternative waxes such as soy when looking for a cleaner-burning candle experience.

As a result, there has been a growing shift toward cleaner, plant-based waxes such as soy. Produced from U.S.-grown soybeans, soy wax creates a smooth, refined scent experience and a clean, even burn. It is widely used among candle makers for its ability to create candles with a soft, elegant finish. At Emilyn Rose, this approach is incorporated in every candle we create - combining natural soy wax with carefully curated scents, delivering a clean, elevated experience designed to complement your space.

Candle Wicks

The wick plays a subtle yet essential role in the performance of your candle. While often overlooked, the type of wick utilized to burn your wax affects how even the candle burns, as well as the overall clean feel you experience. Cotton wicks are commonly preferred due to their ability to produce a steady, controlled flame with minimal soot, allowing the candle to burn smoothly with less smoke and residue.

Additionally, this contributes not only to a cleaner burn but also to a more polished, elevated experience. A properly constructed wick helps create an even melt pool, enhancing the overall performance of the candle while supporting both its longevity and quality of burn.

Candle Fragrance

Fragrance is often what draws us to a candle. It's what transforms a candle from a simple source of light into an experience. A beautiful, well-crafted scent can help create a welcoming atmosphere, evoke memories, and make a space feel more inviting.

When choosing a candle, the quality of the fragrance matters. Not all fragrance oils are formulated the same, which is why many consumers pay attention to the ingredients used in the products they bring into their homes. One ingredient that has gained attention in recent years is phthalates, a group of chemicals that have historically been used in some fragrance formulations.

At Emilyn Rose Candles, we choose to use phthalate-free fragrance oils that adhere to RIFM and IFRA standards. This allows us to create fragrances that are both beautiful and thoughtfully formulated. Each scent is carefully selected to create a unique experience, whether it's the fresh, airy notes of Ocean Breeze, the floral elegance of Rose Essence, the calming atmosphere of Lavender Blossom, or the clean comfort of Cashmere Cotton.

The result is a fragrance experience designed to feel luxurious, balanced, and intentional—helping transform everyday moments into something special.

Why it Matters

Your home should feel calm, elevated, and intentionally curated. Every detail contributes to that experience. From the soft glow of a candle to the fragrance that fills the air, these elements help create an atmosphere that feels welcoming and refined. Choosing high-quality candles allows you to create an environment that is both comforting and intentional.

True luxury is found in the details. At Emilyn Rose Candles, every element is thoughtfully chosen—from our natural soy wax and cotton wicks to our carefully curated fragrances. Designed to be more than a candle, each piece is crafted to create a warm, elevated atmosphere that transforms everyday moments into meaningful experiences.
